How it works

Men Chasing Greatness connects Christian men from different churches and denominations who share the same faith, so they can meet where life already brings them together: the same office building, neighborhood, gym or morning coffee spot. Groups gather weekly, often over breakfast or lunch, on a schedule that fits around work and family, to study the Bible together.

Hosts

Start a group in your area, pick a weekly day and time, and find a meeting place, public or private (for example an office conference room). You lead the gathering and welcome new men. A host can run up to 3 groups at once, each with its own time and place.

Members

Search by zip or city, choose a nearby group, and show up each week ready to grow alongside other men.

Accountability

Accountability comes from commitment and attendance. Most groups are Open, with no money involved. Some hosts require a deposit; you'll see the details when you choose one. Members commit to 6 weeks at a time and hosts to 12.

Each week the host marks attendance for everyone, himself included: present, absent (notified) or no-call, no-show.

If you can't make it, tell your host beforehand; the My group page has an "I can't make it this week" button. Missing without telling your host (a no-call, no-show) puts your spot at risk of removal, and so do 2 missed weeks in a row. Waivers and bye weeks never count as misses.

If a host steps away

If a host needs to stop partway through, he can either:

If the group closes, each member chooses one of two options:

Host training

Hosts attend a short virtual training led by an MCG admin before approval.

Launch

Groups begin January 2027. Sign-ups now are reservations; commitments and waivers start from your group's first meeting.

Coming soon

Each new group starts as Coming soon, gathering interest from men nearby until the host starts meeting; the host picks a projected start date and chooses whether to show it, and men can tap "I'm interested" to hear when it starts.

Bye weeks

Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks are automatic bye weeks. Before each 12-week commitment, hosts may also choose New Year's, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th or Labor Day. A bye week means no meeting, and it doesn't count toward the commitment, which extends by a week. Apart from these bye weeks, a host's only way to skip a week (for example travel or a family birthday) is his 1 waiver per commitment.

Free visit

New members can attend one meeting free while the host reviews the request. The host shares the meeting place for that visit; you can meet the group before you're approved.

The MCG Code

The MCG Code has five rules: we pursue Jesus Christ, the only true example of greatness; we use Scripture as our guide, and men from every church that confesses this faith are welcome; we stay focused, leaving work, sports and politics outside; we treat each other with respect, speaking from our own lives and keeping what's shared confidential; and we show up, on time, present, with phones away. Read the Code

Privacy

Hosts see members' names, join dates and attendance only.

The exact venue is shared once you're approved; public maps show only an approximate area. Your photo is seen only by your group's host (when reviewing your request), approved members of your group and MCG admins.

Renewal

Groups continue indefinitely. Commitments renew automatically; you can step away at the end of any commitment. Each renewal brings a fresh waiver. Renewal locks in 6 days before your new commitment begins; step away before then to avoid renewal.

Waiver

1 waiver per commitment; unused waivers don't roll over. A commitment is 6 weeks for members and 12 weeks for hosts, counted from your group's first meeting (January 2027 at launch), and each new commitment brings a fresh waiver. Use it at least 6 days before a meeting within your current commitment and that week is excused. With less notice it can't be used and the absence counts as missed. Use my waiver

Talking to MCG

If there is ever an issue with your host, contact an admin privately. Hosts never see these messages.

Approval

Every new host is reviewed and approved by MCG. Every new member is reviewed and approved by the host of the group he asks to join.

A host may remove a member with a stated reason. An MCG admin helps him find a suitable group.

Host profiles

Once you request to join a group, and while your request is in review, you'll see a short host profile: first name, marital status, age, his passion in one sentence and 1 to 5 favorite topics. Public previews never show host details.

Length

Meetings run 45 minutes by default; hosts can choose 30 to 90.

Venue note

Each host adds a short note about food and finding the group, for example 'Order at the counter' or 'Bring your lunch'. You'll see it, with the venue name, address, room and directions, once you're approved.

Invitations

Each approved host gets a personal invite link to text or share with friends. Invited men still send a request, and the host approves it.

Hosts chat

Hosts and admins share a private chat for support.

Group chat

Each group has its own chat on the My group page, and hosts and admins share one too. No phone numbers are shared.

Community Board

An open board for praise reports, common questions and answers from MCG.
